“Arumuga Velayutha Ganapathy” Vidyalaya was started on 10 May 1987 with a single conviction: that quality education must be accessible to every family in and around Kovilambakkam, including first-generation learners.
What began with classes from LKG to Std II became a matriculation school within a year. We received Matriculation (X Std) affiliation from the Government of Tamil Nadu in 1994, and were upgraded to a Higher Secondary School in 2018, with our students producing 99% results in Std X, XI and XII ever since.
Today, nearly four decades later, our motto remains the same: Faith & Service, in everything we do.

AVG Vidyalaya opens its doors on 10 May 1987, with classes from LKG to Std II.
Matriculation school
The very next year, the school is upgraded into a matriculation school.
Matriculation affiliation
Receives Matriculation (X Std) affiliation from the Government of Tamil Nadu.
Silver Jubilee
25 years of service celebrated with alumni, families and faculty across two generations.
Higher Secondary status
Upgraded to offer Classes XI and XII across Bio-Maths, Computer Science and Commerce.
